“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
— Matthew 28:19
Baptism is Christ coming to us, washing us with His promises and calling us to faith.
In Baptism, God puts His name on His people (Matthew 28:19) and unites them to Christ (Romans 6:1–5; Galatians 3:27). Through Baptism, God brings people into His family and makes them part of His Church.
Because all people need the gifts God promises in Baptism, and because Christ commands that His people be baptized, we encourage everyone to receive this gift.
Children are ordinarily baptized when they are presented for Baptism by their parents or guardians. Before the Baptism, parents or guardians receive instruction about Baptism and about the responsibility to raise the child in the Christian faith.
Adults are ordinarily baptized after a period of catechesis, or instruction in the basic teachings of the Christian faith.
If you have questions about Baptism, or if you wish to inquire about Baptism for yourself or your child, please contact Pastor Rutherford or the church office.
